About Dixfield Solar

Dixfield Solar is a 1.4‑megawatt community solar project delivering locally produced renewable energy to households and businesses across the Central Maine Power (CMP) service area. By feeding clean electricity into the grid, the project helps reduce Maine’s reliance on fossil fuels and supports the state’s long‑term climate goals.

Meaningful Carbon Reduction

Each year, Dixfield Solar helps avoid approximately 5,713 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. This reduction contributes directly to cleaner air, a healthier environment, and a more sustainable energy future for Maine.

What does that look like in real‑world terms?

The annual carbon savings from Dixfield Solar are roughly equivalent to:

  • Driving 6,300 fewer miles in a typical gas-powered car

  • Planting about 43 new treesand letting them grow for a decade

  • Avoiding the burning of nearly 3,000 pounds of coal

Local Benefits That Grow Over Time

Beyond carbon reduction, Dixfield Solar supports sustainability in several ways:

  • Strengthening the local grid with clean, distributed energy

  • Supporting green jobs and economic activity in rural Maine

  • Expanding access to renewable energy for renters, homeowners, and small businesses

  • Reducing energy costs for subscribers while promoting long‑term environmental stewardship

A Cleaner Future, Powered Locally

By participating in community solar, residents and businesses help accelerate Maine’s transition to renewable energy—without installing rooftop panels or making upfront investments. Dixfield Solar is a model for how local projects can deliver both economic and environmental value.
